Creating a Custom Paypal Button

Step 8

Custom PayPal Button

  • If this is your first time creating a Custom PayPal ‘Add To Cart’ Button, you can follow the instructions listed here to help explain the process.

Single-Item Payments

  • Use Buy Now buttons to accept single-item purchase payments. A Buy Now button can sell one or more units of a single item.
  • You would use a ‘Buy Now’ button to have a user make a purchase for a download. Only allowing one purchase at a time ensures the user will be redirected to the download page.
  • For instructions on the Buy Now button please see: Buy Now Button

( you can not redirect a user to a download page, if they purchase multiple products at once )

Log into your PayPal account, then click on the merchant services tab. There you will see ‘My Saved Buttons’ (highlighted in green)

Create One Now!

Step 10

For my example I have created a ‘Buy Now’ button, which only allows one purchase at a time. I have used this button because I needed to redirect you to this particular page,.

You could use the by now button for linking a download page.

Step 11

keep in mind there are other options, this is the simple set of instructions.

  1. Choose your button type.
  2. Title your products name.
  3. Add a price.

We are not going to use the customize button features.

Step 12

I have chosen to save my PayPal button, this is a good idea for future use.

Note this section is optional.

Step 13

The third step, is choosing the advanced features which is optional.

  1. In this case I do not need the customer’s shipping address.
  2. There is a spot to fill out a URL for if users cancel their order.
  3. When an order is successful and the user has made their purchase, you can redirect them to a thank you page or download page that you have hidden on your website.

Step 14

This is the important step, you do not need to use the HTML code to create your custom PayPal button., We are going to use the e-mail link.

Picture

Step 15

  • Simply copy the e-mail link provided
Picture

Step 16

I should note, you do not need to have this open in a new window, when a  purchases made the user will be redirected back to your site. They also have the option to continue shopping which will take them back to your site.
